Dr Chau is a teaching fellow of the Department of Computing at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Dr Chau received her doctoral degree in philosophy in 2012, in the Department of Management and Marketing, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Dr Chau is responsible for teaching and coordinating projects relating to FinTech, Computer Ethics, CRM and business intelligence, Business process and workflow, and Business and IS strategies. 

Dr Chau’s research interests include IT governance, Blockchain, Cryptocurrency, ICO’s and has published 5 papers in international journals such as Journal of Strategic Information Systems, Journal of Engineering and Technology Management, and Expert Systems with Applications. She has been the reviewer of several international journals and conferences, such as MIS quarterly and International Journal of Production Economics.

In 2018, Dr Chau has recently completed her Certified Information Privacy Professional / Europe (CIPP/E) certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), which is the official certification body for privacy standards, such as the most recent General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) from Europe which came into effect 25 May 2018. Dr Chau’s CIPP/E makes her an Asia Pacific industry leader in GDPR.

Dr Chau has a keen interest in Blockchain ICO’s, and is an industry and academic liaison and coordinator for several key projects, bringing together industry leaders from FinTech, RegTech, Cyber Security and more to an audience of business executives and postgraduate students. Dr Chau has been chairing the weekly FinTech Seminar for the Department of Computing since 2017. She has invited many professionals and industry practitioners to share their first hand experiences and insights with students and colleagues. She has also coordinated with Institute of Financial Technologists of Asia (IFTA) and The Institute of Certified Management Accountants (CMA) to deliver seminars and workshops for the Department of Computing, aiming to build a closer collaborative relationship between industry and academic.
