Mr Chung Wai Kit Tony
1998: Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Computing

Vice President, Data Services - Asia Satellite Telecommunications Co. Ltd.

Mr Chung Wai Kit Tony received the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Computing in 1998 and Master of Philosophy in 2001.

Starting as a network engineer after graduation, Mr Chung has now become Vice President, Data Services of Asia Satellite Telecommunications Co Ltd. He has over 17 years of experience in the satellite communications service industry and he is overseeing the company's data services operations and infrastructure.

Mr Chung is also serving as one of the mentors in the Computing Mentorship Programme; providing our students with career advice. 

Dr Gu Shuhang
2017: Doctor of Philosophy in Computing

Lecturer, School of Electrical and Information Engineering, University of Sydney, Australia 

Dr Gu Shuhang obtained the Doctor of Philosophy in Computing in 2017. During his PhD studies and as a young researcher, he has achieved very impressive research outputs, including many top conference and journal papers. Some papers have been highly cited and have been benchmarks in the research field, e.g. "Weighted nuclear norm minimization with application to image denoising" (No. of Citation: 1231) and "Learning deep CNN denoiser prior for image restoration" (No. of Citation: 915).

After graduation from PolyU, Dr Gu joined the Computer Vision Lab at ETH Zurich in Switzerland and carried on his research in low-level vision. Starting from February 2020, he works as a Lecturer in the School of Electrical and Information Engineering at the University of Sydney in Australia.

Ms Ihensekhien Lam Siu Han Silvia
1992: Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Computing Studies

Chief Information Security Officer, ShipServ

Ms Ihensekhien received the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Computing Studies in 1992. Started her career as a Lecturer in tertiary education, Ms Ihensekhien then shifted her focus to business operations. This shift turned a new page in her career in which she excelled herself to become the Chief Information Security Officer managing global delivery services, platform operations and customer support as well as heading the ShipServ Hong Kong office.

Ms Ihensekhien is one of the few female leaders in the shipping eCommerce industry in Hong Kong. She is a role model for our graduates that a computing professional can drive business value through streamlining business operations and providing insights to business directions.

Dr. Lam Hang Yat Abraham obtained his Higher Diploma in Information Systems (2007), Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Information Technology (2009) and Doctor of Philosophy in Computing (2015).

Dr. Lam established MEGA Automation Ltd. and Shenzhen FUSQUARE Technology Ltd prior to and after his PhD graduation. He is keen to apply cutting-edge technologies to green buildings and smart cities. He was awarded the Greater Bay Area (GBA) Youth Leader in 2018 for his outstanding performance and leadership. He has been very supportive of PolyU and the Department of Computing. He has likewise actively participated in various social services.

Mr Lau Shiu Fung

Programmer, Fame Key Technology Limited

Mr Lau
 Shiu Fung obtained the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Computing in 2013 and Master of Philosophy in 2017.

Mr Lau suffered from a rare disease - Spinal Muscular Atrophy. He needs to live with his wheelchair since Form 3. Yet, he believed technologies could help improving disabilities’ lives. During his studies at PolyU, he actively participated in extra-curricular activities and received various awards and scholarships. He received the PolyU Micro Fund to develop a mobile app called "WheelMan" for disabled people and won under the "World Citizen" category in the Microsoft Imagine Cup 2016.

Mr Lau is the only disabled research graduate in our Department in recent years and he is definitely a role model for other unfortunates.

Mr Sun Kin Kwok Darron
2001: Master of Science in Information Systems

Head of Information Technology, Hong Kong Housing Society

Mr Sun Kin Kwok Darron received two Master degrees from PolyU: the Master of Science in Information Systems and the MBA degree.

Mr Sun has made significant contributions to the Department, initiating and driving our new Mentorship Programme in particular. He also provided internship opportunities to our students in recent years. Apart from PolyU, he actively involved in various social and community services.

Mr Sun is now the Head of Information Technology in the Hong Kong Housing Society, providing vision and leadership for developing and implementing information technology initiatives for Hong Kong.
