The BSc (Hons) Scheme in Computing comprises three awards with different emphasis on professional IT education. Here are the characteristics of the Scheme:

• Students with backgrounds in Arts, Science or Business can apply for the programme.
• Students admitted to the Scheme can decide on the final award in the first year of study.
• The study content and teaching methodology are applied and practical.
• Students can work locally or overseas for one year under the placement programme arranged by the Department. Students will gain first-hand knowledge of the industries and develop the skills and experience required in the workplace.
• The Department provides articulation to students for admission to the taught postgraduate programmes it offers. They can receive a Master's degree with one extra year of study.
• Many departmental scholarships are available, including the Entrance Scholarship for students with good academic results.
