To further consolidate our links with industry, the Department of Computing actively seeks opportunities to service national and international companies through high-level consultancy projects. We have served prominent companies and institutes, including Cisco, PCCW, VTech, the Hong Kong Jockey Club, the Hong Kong Productivity Council, and the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, to name just a few.

Over the past 5 years, the Department has experienced a more than 4-fold increase in consultancy income. Our significant contributions in servicing the industry have been recognized through the following awards:

• Merit Prize for the Departmental Highest Growth Award for Consultancy Activities at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and the Outstanding Professional Services and Innovation Awards 2005 ranking us the second among all PolyU departments in absolute growth in total value and percentage growth compared to the last fiscal year.
• Merit Prize for the Highest Growth Consultant Award, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, 2008, Dr. Allan Wong
• Highest Growth Award in Consultancy, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, 2004, Dr. Vincent Ng
• Most Active New Consultant Award and Highest Overseas Consultancy Award, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, 2003, Dr. Alvin Chan
