Departmental Academic Advisor (DAA)

Prof. Vijayakumar Bhagavatula is the Associate Dean for the College of Engineering and a Professor of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Carnegie Mellon University.

Prof. Kumar received B. Tech and  M. Tech (Electrical Engineering) from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in 1975 and 1977 respectively and his PhD (Electrical Engineering) from Carnegie Mellon University in 1980. His research interests include Error Correction Codes, Signal/Image Processing and Pattern Recognition. Prof. Kumar is a Fellow of the Optical Society of America (OSA), the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR), SPIE and IEEE.

 Chairman of Departmental Advisory Committee

Dr. Hon Samson Tam, JP received his bachelor degree from CUHK and a doctorate from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is successfully elected to be the Legislative Councillor (ITFC) in 2008. He is now a member of Digital 21 Strategy Advisory Committee, the Small and Medium Enterprises Committee and Deputy Chairman of the Hong Kong Productivity Council. He is also the Chairman of the TechMatrix Research Centre, which is a local technology think tank.

He was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of HKUST, the Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award in 1997 and Young Industrialist Award of Hong Kong in 1992.
