Dr Liu received his BSc (1st Hons), MPhil, and PhD degrees in Computer Science from City University of Hong Kong (CityU) in 2005, 2007 and 2014 respectively. After his MPhil graduation, he worked as a research assistant in CityU for a project in which patterns in programming assignments by undergraduate students were extracted and analyzed. He joined the School of Professional and Continuing Education, University of Hong Kong (HKU SPACE) in 2007 - 2014 as a College Lecturer and he is now a Teaching Fellow in the Department of Computing in The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
Dr Liu was conferred the Outstanding Teacher Award 2011 by HKU SPACE and is experienced in teaching students in sub-degree and undergraduate levels for a variety of subjects, including programming, software engineering, networking and information security. He has supervised a number of student live projects with industrial practitioners, including innovative technological and Hong Kong listed companies. Dr Liu is also experienced in academic programme development, ranging from short courses to postgraduate programmes. He is familiar with quality assurance of academic programmes.
