Natural Language Process and Computational Linguistics, Lexical Semantics, Information Extraction and Knowledge Discovery, Open Systems and Standardization
Prof. Lu started her research in distributed systems focusing on process migration and load balancing. After she joined the academia in HK, she first ventured into open systems to address issues in support interoperability of computer systems, especially in encoding methods for Chinese language processing. Prof. Lu is still actively contributing to the technical development of open systems related standards. Her main research works are in computational linguistics. That is, using computational methods to process Chinese text, extract useful information, and build Chinese NLP related resources. Her expertise is in lexical semantics, text mining, and knowledge discovery.
