Global Computing Programme

To enrich students’ learning experience at a global level, a brand new study abroad programme called “Global Computing Programme” is launched this year to further broaden students’ knowledge and enhance their global outlook. Under this programme, selected students are sponsored to join international summer programmes of renowned universities.

In summer 2018, seven COMP students have been admitted to the Engineering Summer Programme of the University of Cambridge (Girton College) to learn advanced technologies such as nanotechnology and quantum technologies. They will also experience Cambridge college life and participate in cultural visits (e.g., visiting London). Two other COMP students will also join the 4-week Vancouver Summer Programme offered by the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Canada.

To take the Global Computing initiative further, a scholarship is specially set-up under the Global Computing Programme for twelve students admitted via JUPAS with the best academic result in the first semester of year one. They will be granted this Global Computing Scholarship so that they can apply for the summer programme(s) hosted by overseas universities such as the University of Cambridge.
