Visas and Visa Support Letters

Attendees who are not Chinese citizens (or passport holders from Singapore, Brunei, and Japan) need a Chinese visa to enter China. You can apply for a visa at the Chinese embassy or consulate in the region in which you live. For most attendees, it is easiest to apply for a Tourist ("L") visa; an invitation letter is not required for obtaining a Tourist visa. If you need another type of visa that does require an invitation letter, please contact Dr. Li Xu at xuli@fjnu.edu.cn and/or Dr. Jianliang Gao at jlgao@fjnu.edu.cn. An invitation letter can only be issued once you have registered.

A brief introduction to Chinese visas and instructions on applying for a Tourist ("L") visa are available from the Chinese Embassy in the United States. For information on applying for a Chinese visa from other countries, you can check with your local Chinese embassy or consulate. The Chinese visa application form in PDF is also available for download (for a Tourist "L" visa, select "Tourism" for "Major Purpose(s) of Your Visit(s) to China").

To avoid uncertainty, please be advised to apply for your visa as early as possible. It is recommended that you apply for a Chinese visa at least 1 month in advance.

If you have any visa questions or need help obtaining a visa, contact Dr. Li Xu at xuli@fjnu.edu.cn and/or Dr. Jianliang Gao at jlgao@fjnu.edu.cn.
