The CIKM 2009 organizing committee is soliciting proposals for
workshops to be held with the ACM 18th International Conference on
Information and Knowledge Management (CIKM2009) to be held in Hong
Kong, China from November 2 to November 6, 2009. Most of workshops
(half-day and one-day workshop) will be held during November 6. Only
one-and-half day workshop will be held on November 5 and 6, 2009. The
2009 organizing committee will determine the length of workshops (from
half day to one and half day workshop) for accepted workshops based on
the number of papers submitted. For quality control and space
allocation purpose, the CIKM workshop chairs will determine the number
of papers to be accepted.
CIKM provides a wide forum for researchers and industrial experts
interested in the multidisciplinary areas of databases, information
retrieval, and knowledge management. We plan to feature a set of
co-located workshops. Proposals for workshops (in PDF format) are
invited and should be directly emailed to the CIKM 2009 workshop
co-chairs, Min Song
at
min.song@njit.edu and Wook-Shin Han at
wshan@knu.ac.kr, by
March 1, 2009.
Proposals should address the following issues:
Title and Acronym of workshop
Description of topics
Scope and novelty of the workshop
Workshop organizer(s) and their credentials
Format of workshop (1 day or 2 days)
Potential Program Committee
Highlights (e.g., keynotes, panels, journal special issue)
Expected number of participants
Details of any previous workshops
Workshop proposals should include a draft Call for Papers indicating
the relevant topics and the intended program committee.
This year, in order to give ample time for organizers to plan and
advertise their workshops, the decision on acceptance/rejection of
workshop proposals will be made within 2 weeks of submission due -- no
later than March 15, 2009.
All CIKM 2009 workshop proceedings will be printed on CD only (i.e., no
paper proceedings), together with the main CIKM 2009 proceedings. Thus,
the timeline to print proceedings must be planned with the CIKM
proceedings schedule. Other issues should be communicated with the
workshop chair.
